Step back in time to the interwar period with the "Vaivorykste" (Rainbow) deck. Originally designed for a Lithuanian government competition in 1933, these cards have been meticulously restored from the archives of the M.K. Ciurlionis National Museum of Art. The deck lives up to its name-"Rainbow"-with each suit featuring a distinct rim color, creating a vibrant spectrum when spread or fanned.
Masterful Artistry
The artwork was hand-drawn by the renowned Lithuanian-Russian artist Mstislav Dobuzhinsky, famous for his expressive cityscapes. The cards are exploding with color and feature patterns deeply rooted in Lithuanian Folk Art.
The Aces: Marked with the letter T (Tuzas), featuring detailed ornamentation.
The Kings: Marked with K (Karalius), showcasing crowns stylized with their respective suit symbols.
The Queens: Marked with M (Mergele), featuring traditional Lithuanian imagery and floral motifs.
The Jacks: Marked with B (Berniukas), depicting figures holding farming scythes and the kankles (a traditional plucked string instrument).
