Effect

The magician takes a card printed with a QR code out of his pocket. He explains to the spectator that each QR code is made up of a unique series of white or black "pixels" that represent a 0 or a 1 in computer terms. Together, they allow information to be stored. The magician then takes out a pack of white stickers and a pack of black stickers and explains to the spectator that they are invited to transform the QR code on the card into whatever they want, replacing the black squares with white ones, or the white ones with black ones.

The spectator does so, transforming the original QR code into a brand new, unique QR code. While the spectator is creating the QR code, the magician turns to a second spectator and shows them photos of various famous monuments (the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, the Colosseum, etc.) and explains that QR codes are increasingly common in public places and monuments.

The magician asks the audience member to select a monument, which they keep hidden. Once this is done, the magician returns to the first audience member who has finished creating their QR code and asks them to take out their cell phone. The chosen monument is revealed: it is the Colosseum. The QR code is scanned with the audience member's cell phone and a web page opens: the Wikipedia page for the Colosseum!

Now imagine that the image is actually a post on your social media... you have just brought all the spectators at your table to your account in a single trick. An excellent way to communicate and gain followers.

Code is first and foremost a principle rather than a trick in itself. With the method provided, you can adapt this trick to your own style and no longer predict monuments, but celebrities, works of art, music, places, and much more.

Once you understand the potential of the method, the possibilities are endless.

A few important points:
  • There are no stooges.
  • Everything can be left for examination, and the magician never touches the QR code (no sleight of hand).
  • The QR code reader app is normal; the magician never touches the spectator's phone.
  • The spectator is truly free to make their own choices when placing the stickers
With this trick, you will receive a link to the explanation, a sheet of black and white stickers, 5 photographs of different monuments, and QR codes already printed in large format on card stock so you can perform the trick as soon as you receive it. Once you understand the method, you can find thenecessary materials yourself.
